Harbin · Yabuli · Snow Town in 5 Days | Skiing and Snow Town

Product ID: JTDB0501
From CNY¥4280p.p

Five days on the most classic stretch of the Northeast winter: Harbin's European quarter and ice lanterns, the slopes and forest train at Yabuli, and a night inside China Snow Town among the snow mushrooms. Short, unhurried, and made for a first visit to the Northeast when time is limited.

A private vehicle throughout, with two nights in Harbin, one in Yabuli and one on a heated kang inside the Snow Town scenic area. Three hours of beginner skiing at Yabuli comes with full equipment, and both Snow Rhyme Street and the Bangchui Mountain boardwalk are within walking distance of the hotel.

Trip Highlights

01

Harbin | Three eras in one day

The cobbles of Central Street date from 1924, the green onion domes of Saint Sophia Cathedral from 1932, and the Chinese Baroque courtyards of Laodaowai from the 1920s trading port. After dark, Ice and Snow World lights the city in an entirely different way.

02

Yabuli | Your first run on snow

Yabuli's beginner slope is gentle and the snow is reliable. Boots, skis, poles, jacket and goggles are all included, so nothing has to be bought for a first attempt. Afterwards a forest train runs into the woods, and a snow-field hot spring waits in the evening.

03

China Snow Town | Snow mushrooms and deep eaves

The snow here is sticky and piles up on the roofs in mushroom shapes, thick enough in places to hang below the eaves. The Bangchui Mountain boardwalk is the best place to look down on them. You sleep on a heated kang inside the scenic area, with the lanterns of Snow Rhyme Street at the door.

Day by Day

  1. Day1

Harbin Airport or Station → Central Street (evening) → Harbin Ice and Snow World → Overnight in Harbin

Arrive in Harbin and transfer to your city hotel. If you land early, walk a stretch of the cobbles on Central Street, where the Madieer ice cream shop and Huamei Western Restaurant both sit. Ice and Snow World opens after 20 December, so an early landing means the ice castle is possible the same evening.

Harbin → Saint Sophia Cathedral → Chinese Baroque → Songhua River · Flood Control Monument → Yabuli → Forest Train · Reindeer Park → Overnight in Yabuli

See the onion domes and red-brick facade of Saint Sophia Cathedral in the morning, then the Chinese Baroque quarter in Laodaowai, where Western facades wrap Chinese courtyards. The Flood Control Monument and Stalin Park line the riverbank. Drive to Yabuli after lunch and take the forest train into the woods at dusk.

Cross the Zhangguangcai Range on the Yaxue Highway, where the roadside trees are thick with rime. A snowmobile carries you up Datudingzi Mountain for a view over the whole snow-covered forest. You reach Snow Town in the afternoon, when the light falls best on the snow mushrooms along Snow Rhyme Street, and the red lanterns come on after dark.
