A 6-day, 5-night in-depth Chongqing route combining Wulong's karst wonders, an underground cave expedition, the city's fantastical landmarks and a two-river night cruise. It starts with a 24-hour private airport transfer, followed by free time after check-in to ease into the Mountain City holiday. The route then moves to Wulong for the Three Natural Bridges World Natural Heritage site and the alpine grasslands of Xiannv Mountain, taking in both nature's power and its calm.
Back in the city you first explore Zhangguan Water Cave for a taste of underground adventure, then move through Guanghuan Garden City, Longmenhao and Xiahaoli, shifting between old streets and new trends. Next come the monorail threading a building at Liziba, Eling Second Factory, the Eling cliff walkway and Eling Park, followed by Hongyadong's lights at dusk and a two-river night cruise past the Mountain City's brilliance. Finally you wander the Eighteen Steps, Kuixing Tower, Jiefangbei and Ciqikou for everyday bustle and memories of old Chongqing. A private transfer to the airport closes the journey.
The pace rises and falls naturally, with the impact of natural spectacle, the verticality of a fantastical city and the warmth of old lanes. Suited to first-time visitors and to anyone wanting a deeper Chongqing experience.
01
Step Into the Underground Cave World — An Expedition to the Earth's Core
Zhangguan Water Cave lies in Luoqi Town, Yubei District, Chongqing, in the middle section of Mingyue Mountain — one of the four mountains of the main city — above 800 metres in elevation. The cave is distinguished by its water, with the longest underground river in Asia at 7.5 kilometres in total; roughly 1.5 kilometres of open river can currently be toured by boat, while 6 kilometres of hidden waterway await exploration. The main way to experience it is to board a boat and glide slowly into the depths along the underground river, rock walls close on both sides and a natural dome overhead formed by millions of years of water flow — as if travelling a secret passage into the centre of the earth.
02
Climb up for the view — from the Eling Park Trail to Kansheng Tower
Eling sits on the highest ground of the Yuzhong peninsula and offers the best vantage point over Chongqing's three-dimensional two-river city. The Eling Park Trail climbs gently with a sheer cliff on one side and open river views on the other — a walkway hung on the hillside that lines up mountain, water and city in a single glance. At the top stands Kansheng Tower (Liangjiang Pavilion), a 360-degree lookout: the Yangtze and Jialing meet at the foot of the city, the towers of Yuzhong stack up in layers, and bridges and cableways shuttle across the water. Come by day for the city's grain, stay for sunset over the two rivers, then watch the whole city light up after dark.
03
An 80-metre glass lift drops straight to the valley floor
On entering the scenic area, visitors ride a fully transparent rotating observation lift set into the cliff, descending 80 metres from the bridge top to the valley floor in 90 seconds. The moment the doors open, rock walls hundreds of metres high surround you and a natural stone bridge spans overhead; that sense of plunging from the surface to the centre of the earth is the Three Natural Bridges' signature opening. The lift is included in the combination ticket, and there is no walking route that replaces this rapid descent into the valley.
04
See mountain, river, city and bridges complete from the water
What makes Chongqing's night view special is that it is not a flat sheet of lights but a three-dimensional play of light from the water surface to the mountain tops and from beneath the bridges to the rooftops. The two-river night cruise is currently the only way to see, from a level on-water perspective in a single voyage, the Hongyadong stilt-house cluster, Qiansimen Bridge, the Raffles crystal skybridge, Chongqing Grand Theatre and the Nanbin Road light belt all at once. Water, light, buildings and bridges together form a moving visual feast that no onshore viewing platform can replicate.
05
A commercial complex that grew inside a park — a new natural-and-retail landmark
Guanghuan Garden City lies east of the Central Park in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area, jointly developed by Hongkong Land and China Merchants Shekou as a 2.0 upgrade of the Guanghuan series, opening in September 2025. Positioned as a new urban natural community, it has a retail volume of 160,000 square metres across eight levels, made up of Halls A, B and C plus the outdoor sky garden Youli street district. Deeply integrating nature, ecology, art, technology and retail, with 9,000 square metres of planting and 50,000 square metres of landscape design, it forms an urban ecological entertainment and shopping park where shopping becomes an immersive natural experience rather than pure consumption.
