From CNY¥2889p.p

Fairy Encounter is a 4-day, 3-night in-depth Chongqing itinerary built around the karst landscapes of Wulong, with Xiannv Mountain and Furong Cave (Furong River) as its twin focal points. It begins with a private transfer from the airport or station; after check-in the time is free to ease into the Mountain City holiday. It then goes deep into Wulong for the sinkhole spectacle of the Three Natural Bridges, climbs the alpine grassland of Xiannv Mountain, explores the underground art palace of Furong Cave, cruises the Furong River or the Wujiang Gallery and enters Jiuli City for Miao culture. Back in the Chongqing city area you tick off the monorail through a building at Liziba, Hongya Cave, Jiefangbei and Ciqikou, and take a two-river night cruise past the Mountain City lights. Private transfers throughout at a well-balanced pace, linking natural wonders, ethnic culture, a river cruise and the city's night skyline in one journey.

There is both the easy grassland of Xiannv Mountain and the cool mystery of Furong Cave, the elegance of the Wujiang Gallery and the eight-dimensional magic of the Chongqing city area. Suited to families, couples, friends and first-time visitors who want an in-depth Chongqing experience.

The world's largest hotpot restaurant, Guinness-certified

Pipayuan Shiweixian Hotpot sits beside Huangjin Road on Nanshan in Nan'an District, Chongqing. It began in 2004 in a loquat orchard, where the owner put up a simple shelter and a few tables to serve hikers; over more than a decade, without levelling the hill or felling trees, it expanded slowly along the natural slope until the entire hillside had become a hotpot restaurant. It now covers fifty mu with nearly seven hundred tables, and on 26 July 2022 it was officially certified by Guinness World Records as the world's largest hotpot restaurant, seating close to six thousand diners at once. When the cast of the Korean variety show My Name Is Gabriel visited, they saw a whole mountain turned into one restaurant and were frankly astonished.

A world heritage water gallery

The Furong River is an important part of the Wulong karst World Natural Heritage site and, with the Three Natural Bridges and Furong Cave, forms one of its three core elements. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2007. Unlike the look-down-into-the-sinkhole experience of the Three Natural Bridges, cruising the Furong River is about viewing the gorge at eye level — clear green water, green hills running along both banks and strange peaks standing in ranks, the boat travelling through the river while you travel through a painting. No hiking or physical effort is required to take in the gorges, forest and riverside villages at an easy pace.

The Milky Way Waterfall, soul of the rift

The most striking sight at Longshuixia Rift is this Milky Way Waterfall pouring out from the heart of the earth. It does not fall from a mountain top but bursts from a cave in the rock wall on the right side of the gorge, scouring layer by layer down the steep face until it forms a four-tier cascade, the lowest with a vertical drop of eighty metres. Standing at the bottom and looking up, the water smashes down like a white galaxy from the depths of the rift, striking the rock wall and throwing up spray, the roar echoing back and forth in the narrow gorge — the most unforgettable moment of the rift, with a power that makes you think the Milky Way has fallen from the ninth heaven.

From river-crossing workhorse to city icon — the rise of a cableway

The Yangtze River Cableway entered service on 24 October 1987 as the first large cross-river passenger cableway on the Yangtze. In an era when river bridges were still rare, it was a genuine aerial bus for residents on both banks, carrying as many as 10,500 passengers in a single day. In 2009 it was listed as a protected municipal cultural relic of Chongqing, and in 2018 it was rated a national 4A-level scenic attraction. It has long since outgrown its transport function to become a core element of Chongqing's eight-dimensional magic city image, receiving 3.8368 million visitors in 2025, more than ninety per cent of them from out of town. From commuter tool to city icon, the cableway is itself a condensed modern history of Chongqing.
