About Mohe
Mohe sits at the northern tip of Heilongjiang and is the highest-latitude county in China. Arctic Village holds the "Northern Pole of China" stone, the Northernmost Family and the Northernmost Post Office, with the main channel of the Heilongjiang River — and Russia — just beyond. Further west, the First Bend of Heilongjiang freezes over in winter until the whole Ω curve stands out against the white. Daylight lasts only seven or eight hours, temperatures can reach -40°C, the snow stays dry and the light stays low; the best photographs come around three in the afternoon.
