About Jiuzhaigou
Jiuzhaigou lies in Aba, Sichuan, a Y-shaped valley about sixty kilometres long in the Minshan range, holding more than a hundred alpine lakes the locals call haizi. Rich in calcium and algae, the water shifts from peacock blue to emerald in sunlight, with sunken logs and calcified branches visible on the bed. Five Flower Lake shows blue, green, yellow and brown in a single surface; Mirror Lake lies still at dawn; Nuorilang Waterfall spans over three hundred metres. Shuttle buses plus boardwalks cover the highlights in a day — enter before 8 am and ride straight to Long Lake at the far end. Numbers are capped daily, so reserve ahead with your ID. Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport and Chengdu both work; the drive from Chengdu takes about eight hours. Huanglong sits near 3,500 metres, so take it slowly. Autumn is the finest season.
